One would be hard pressed to find more opportunities for young golfers than are found in the City of
Long Beach Golf Operation.

Little Linksters

LittlelinkstersTwo weeks each summer, the LBJGA conducts the Little Linksters program at Heartwell Park GC. This introductory level class meets each morning for a week, going though the basics of the game and building on the previous day’s learning. The culmination of the week is a scramble format tournament where the juniors use the set of clubs they get from the program and play in a foursome with a sponsoring adult. There is a luncheon and awards program after the tournament.

Information on the program can be obtained by contacting the LBJGA in the spring or summer of each year at (562) 570-1272.

Introductory Clinics

golfgetagrip6In conjunction with the City’s Parks, Recreation and Marine Department and the Long Beach Unified School District, the LBJGA and American Golf’s teaching professionals conduct several introductory clinics to youth throughout the year. These are conducted at varying sites like middle school playgrounds, City park locations and the City’s golf courses.

The Youth on Course program certifies its members in their knowledge of the game and its etiquettes and provides life skills components to a learning curriculum that once completed, affords the junior golfer access to over 65 participating golf courses throughout the southland.

For more information on the Youth on Course program visit the Long Beach Junior Golf Association or the SCGA Foundation.
